A PRIVATE, ENGINEER-LED STUDIO
Studio ZY (Euston site) is intentionally small, private and highly focused.
Unlike dry-hire studios, every recording session includes dedicated one-to-one engineering support as standard. Each setup is tailored to the individual performer, instrument or production, rather than relying on a fixed studio configuration. This allows greater attention to microphone positioning, monitoring, performance requirements, recording consistency and technical detail — particularly for projects where a standard studio workflow may not be sufficient. From initial setup and recording through to post-production and final delivery where required, one engineer follows the project throughout, creating a more controlled, consistent and personal recording process.
BUILT AROUND THE SESSION
Studio ZY was developed around a simple principle: the recording environment should adapt to the project, not the other way around.
Different voices, instruments and productions require different ways of listening. A vocal session, a traditional instrument, a film recording or a structured speech dataset may each demand a different acoustic, technical and monitoring approach.
With a background spanning professional musicianship, audio engineering and creative technology, the studio has been developed as a flexible working environment where recording, production and technical decisions can be shaped around the specific requirements of each project.
This makes Studio ZY equally suited to straightforward professional recording and to projects involving unusual instruments, non-standard setups or more complex production requirements.

BILINGUAL RECORDING & PRODUCTION
Studio ZY provides professional recording and production support in both Mandarin Chinese and English, enabling direct communication between performers, engineers, producers and international production teams throughout the session.
Bilingual support is particularly valuable for voice-over, localisation, games, TTS, speech datasets, advertising, film and technology projects, where language, pronunciation, performance direction and technical requirements need to be handled within the same production workflow.
Remote monitoring is available for overseas clients and production teams, allowing sessions in London to be directed and supervised in real time.

Zhuyang Liu is a London-based musician and audio engineer working across recording, music production and audio post-production.
Combining professional instrumental training with audio engineering and technical production, Zhuyang approaches recording from both sides of the microphone, with an understanding of performance, acoustics and the technical decisions required to translate sound accurately into a recorded medium.
As an internationally award-winning guzheng musician and multi-instrumentalist, Zhuyang brings extensive experience in Chinese traditional music alongside contemporary composition and production. This provides particular expertise in recording acoustic, traditional and non-standard instruments, where microphone placement and recording methods often require a more instrument-specific approach.
Their wider professional practice also spans electronic audio systems, multichannel sound and creative technology, with work presented through collaborations with institutions including the V&A and the British Museum.
